SMEET Ready Mix has attained ISO 14001 Accreditation for its Environmental Management System (EMS), with the company continuing to show its commitment towards protecting the environment.

"We are very proud to announce the accomplishment of gaining a new status with ISO 14001 Accreditation," says Majid Al-Bader, Chief Executive Officer for SMEET.

The ISO 14001 achievement comes in the wake of the company winning ISO 9001: 2008 Accreditation.

"Our environmental perspective is in accordance with our strategic objective: 'To develop and maintain environmentally-friendly operations as a responsibility to the community' ", Al-Bader points out.

 "These not only re-affirm SMEET Ready Mix's initiative towards sustaining its green credentials but also provide a tangible source of the internationally-acclaimed quality and environmental management system."

SMEET Ready Mix has secured the certification after conformation to all international environmental norms and values.

"It underlines the success of our teamwork involved across the whole organization and assures our promise to maintain environmentally-friendly operations," says a company spokesman.

He says it has highlighted the success and recognition of the company's continuous initiative to comply with environmental standards in every area of its business activities.

 "After achieving these two accreditations, SMEET Ready Mix has its mind set on achieving total compliance at every stage of manufacturing process in other operational segments," the spokesman says.

"We are dedicated towards sustaining environmental-friendly operations. We believe that coupled with the rapid advances in science and technology, this will allow us to gain more knowledge about current trends on being eco-friendly, helping us to match pace with them."

 SMEET was established in 2010 by Qatari Diar Real Estate Investment Company, Barwa Real Estate Company and The First Investor. It has been envisaged to become the premier manufacturer and supplier of building materials in Qatar and the region and is focused on offering an integrated product mix and innovative building solutions for the construction industry.

 SMEET operates from prime locations “to ensure its proximity to its customer base, assuring timely delivery of quality products”. SMEET’s Ready Mix Concrete division has production facilities based in the Industrial Area and at Lusail.

 SMEET’s Precast Division is constructing the largest and the most advanced single precast factory in the region. A contract was awarded to HATCO Qatar. The project’s first phase is in the process of completion.

 This manufacturing facility will cover a massive area of 300,000 square meters at Mesaieed and is to be commissioned by the first quarter of 2012. 

It will house a state-of-the-art hollowcore slab production line, a fully-automated circulating plant (for mass production of sandwich and solid wall panels), columns, prestressed beam lines, tilting tables for delicately-shaped and colored architectural precast units, special infrastructure precast units and other components of precast applications.
